Researchers said looking at samples under a microscope can provide a high level of detail. A comprehensive treatment approach is required as LBD is a multi-system disease, which means that a team of physicians from different areas need to collaborate so that optimum treatment can be provided for each symptom without worsening other LBD symptoms. Gotu kola is a creeping marsh plant that grows in tropical areas. Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system in which the patient develops progressive dementia and an alteration of mental functions. Journal of the American Geriatrics Society 39:708-16. Various signs and symptoms currently associated with the disease such as akinesia, drooling, reptilian stare, tremor, constant somnolence, rigidity and dementia are also described in the Caraka Samhita. Tremor, which is a cardinal feature in Parkinson’s, is found in Lewy body dementia but is not as common.
